Makeup Remover & Cleansing Oil - Your Secret Weapon against Blackheads!

Makeup Remover & Cleansing Oil - Your Secret Weapon against Blackheads!

We receive a lot of feedback from our customers about how our products have helped them overcome their skin problems. We put it down to the absence of emulsifiers, detergents, preservatives and other synthetics that can interfere with some of our skin’s important functions. This, combined with our highly concentrated formulas of organic botanical ingredients makes a potent combination.

However there is one product that can elicit a response of pure surprise and sometimes astonishment - in fact, if you scroll down to some customer testimonials below, you will see what we mean! The product we’re referring to is our Makeup Remover & Cleansing Oil, which is known for its ability to remove even long-standing blackheads. Sometimes, so many blackheads are dislodged, people can be quite shocked! The great thing about this product is that it works its magic without the detergents, peels, extractions, exfoliations and other traumatic methods that are often suggested for dealing with blackheads. What is a blackhead?

Our skin’s pores are in fact the openings of hair follicles.  Each contains a hair and a sebum-producing sebaceous gland. When sebum and dead skin cells build up in the hair follicle, they form a plug. When the outer part of the plug is exposed to air, it oxidises and turns a distinctive black colour, and thus the name ‘blackhead’.

How does oil cleansing work?

Like most cleansing oils, our Makeup Remover & Cleansing Oil works on the basis that oil binds oil, and when massaged onto the skin it will bind excess sebum, dirt, pollutants and yes, even those pesky blackheads! Unlike most cleansing oils, ours does not include detergent, which means it is even gentler on your skin than a standard cleansing oil.

As you may already know, at Mokosh we believe that detergents do not belong on your face! Although detergents remove excess oil, they can also strip away the oils in your skin’s natural barrier. A damaged skin barrier can bring on a range of skin problems ranging from dry, prickly skin, through to redness and inflammation.

The world’s gentlest cleanser

Our Makeup Remover & Cleansing Oil is formulated with oils that are able to penetrate the skin’s pores, and therefore work their magic in those hard-to-reach places that other oils will not go. The blend is also rich in linoleic acid, which will reinforce your skin’s barrier function, as well as vitamin E and beta-carotene, which are potent antioxidants that will protect the skin from free radical damage.

How to use our Makeup Remover & Cleansing Oil to promote blackhead removal

The reason blackheads can be difficult to remove is that they are plugs that can be quite solid in consistency. Longstanding blackheads can be very firm, and they may also adhere to the pore itself.

For this reason, many people find it helpful to increase the liquidity of the plug by applying a warm water-soaked cloth to the skin before applying the Makeup Remover & Cleansing Oil. Pressing the cloth to the face for 20 seconds or so will warm up the skin and give time for the plug to lose some of its rigidity.

Next apply a few pumps of oil to the face and massage very gently over the face, giving particular attention to areas where the blackheads persist. The massage should always be gentle, and should never be uncomfortable. A few minutes should be sufficient time, but some people like to massage for longer. At this point you may feel some plugs under your fingertips as they dislodge.

Remove the oil by pressing the warm water-soaked cloth to your face. The warmth will once again help dislodge the plugs. Take care not to scrub with the cloth - it should simply be pressed onto the face. Rinse the cloth and repeat until there is a comfortable amount of oil on the skin.

Some people tell me it takes a few attempts to remove all the blackheads, however patience is important, and one should never be tempted to be rough with the skin, or apply water that is hot or uncomfortable. These will only cause damage.

Here’s what our customers had to say:

“I'm very prone to blackheads and whiteheads and for a long time have been using cleansing oils as part of my defence to help keep them to a minimum. I massage them in for 10+ minutes nightly as a first step in my routine and have had good results doing that.

HOWEVER, the amount of gunk this cleanser can lift in a single application is UNBELIEVABLE! Each time I apply it, I feel all sorts of little particles pilling on my fingertips, one night counting up to 16 tiny, extracted blackheads! I kid you not.

Given I do a thorough cleanse nightly and have relatively healthy skin, it's incredible what this product achieves and how much it stands out from the rest. It's like using a standard vacuum cleaner on your carpet then going over it with a Dyson. The difference is amazing!”

Denise

“I have been using this as my cleanser for a month now and it’s the best product I’ve used for cleansing my skin.

I got my daughter who has quite bad acne and black heads to use today. She gently massaged into dry skin for about 3 mins.

The gritty gunk that was removed from her skin and black heads that came out of her blocked pores was a shock. She said her skin felt clean and hydrated without being oily.

Thank you for creating a beautiful product. I love the whole range.”

Michelle

“I have just started using the cleansing oil (about 2 weeks) and it is magic! It has slowly started to lift out blackheads on my nose that I have had for 15 years. I couldn't believe it. I use it every night before bed and my pores are starting to become clearer and smaller. I also use this with your light and rich face cream and raspberry pomegranate serum. Absolutely amazing products that have simplified my skin care routine yet have shown brilliant results.”
