We decided to bring back our super-popular bath bombs for a short time this year, after they spent almost 10 years in the wilderness. So why did we stop making them when they were so loved? The unfortunate answer is that they are both highly labour intensive and contain high end ingredients - we wouldn’t use anything else - which meant that they were no longer profitable for us.
As a small business paying fair wages, this decision was difficult, but necessary. However, we and our customers missed them! So we’ve decided that on certain special occasions we’ll do a short, sharp run of our bath bombs so that devotees can stock up and keep them for those moments when they really want to take the time to relax in some pure, delicious indulgence. If you're one of our bath bomb addicts, keep a lookout for when they make their brief yet spectacular reappearance.
What makes our bath bombs different?
As for so many of our products, it’s what is not included in our bath bombs that makes them special. If you take a look at the ingredients list of a mainstream bath bomb, you are likely to find synthetic colours, synthetic fragrances, alcohol, dipropylene glycol (solvent), as well as PEG’s and other emulsifiers. They may look and smell spectacular but don’t do much for your skin - they may even be harmful for it. After a short burst of novelty, they leave you with nothing but a mess to clean up.
For our bath bombs we’ve kept the fizz (sodium bicarbonate + citric acid), and added Epsom salts for a muscle-relaxing magnesium hit, as well as kaolin clay for its skin softening benefits. We’ve also added certified organic jojoba oil to moisturise and hydrate your skin, and certified organic essential oils of rose geranium and patchouli to calm and uplift the mind.
The fizz will last for a few minutes, help disperse the clay and nourishing oils, and enhance your experience of the beautiful fragrance. Simply lie back and luxuriate in the uplifting scent.
No bath? No problem
So many people are bath-less these days - but this does not mean you can’t enjoy our bath bombs. Simply drop them into a large bowl of warm water and soak your feet, preferably while drinking your favourite beverage. The skin of your hard-working feet will become beautifully softened and you will feel rejuvenated.
Do be careful after soaking as your bath, your bowl and your feet may be slippery from the oils. Simply step carefully onto a soft towel and pat the skin dry afterwards.
A calming night time ritual
Some of our ardent bath bomb fans like to use them after a long day as a relaxing wind-down before bed. Soak in the warmth and beautiful scent. Lightly pat the skin dry, allowing the moisturising jojoba oil to soak in. Slip into bed and dream a beautiful dream.
