Module 8: Caring for Normal Skin

Text Version

Skin characteristics

'Normal' is a somewhat misleading term (there's no such thing as "abnormal" skin!) – but it is widely used.

It typically refers to well-balanced skin.

This skin type is easiest defined by a lack of markers, rather than the presence of, like with other skin types.

Typified by:

  • No or few pimples
  • Lack of sensitivity, hyperpigmentation, etc.
  • No dryness, redness, flaking skin
  • Minimal or no visible oiliness

    Skin Needs

For normal skin, the focus is to keep it well-nourished while protecting it from environmental stressors so that it is maintained in perfect condition for life.

    Avoid

Products or actions that may deregulate the skin, e.g.

    • Soap and detergent cleansers
    • Harsh scrubs
    • Cigarette smoke, pollution, harsh weather, UV exposure, etc.

    Embrace

    • A regular routine that includes cleansing, toning, nourishing & protecting
    • Nutrient-rich products that promote cell regeneration, collagen production, and protect from the elements
    • Organic, unrefined & natural ingredients
