"I don't know why my skin is reacting this way... I haven't changed my routine!"

    Common, General Queries

    Q: What does water-free mean?

Water is the main ingredient in most creams - it is added to dilute the nourishing ingredients (plant oils and butters), which increases the company's profits.

Water-free means a more potent formula, with less filler and more oomph!

Water-free also means no emulsifiers, preservatives and other synthetics are needed...

Q: How do the products stay fresh without preservatives etc.?

Our products have a shelf-life of 2 years from the date of manufacture, which is shown on the bottom or back of the product, providing they are stored below 30°C.

They have a long shelf-life because no microorganisms can grow in them, whereas water-containing skin care products rely on the potency of the preservative for their shelf life, which is often only 6 months or so.

Q: But are preservatives etc. bad for my skin?

ALL water-based skin care has preservatives added to it because water is the ideal place to grow bacteria and fungi.

Because watering down skin care has become the norm, so have preservatives... but that doesn't mean they are harmless.

Preservatives are extremely effective at killing bad bacteria and fungi... but they also kill the good bacteria and fungi that live on your skin - so that’s your skin microbiome you’re messing with!

Q: Won't water-free products feel too oily on my skin?

Our products need to be thought of as around 5 times the concentration of regular, water-containing cream.

You only need to use one-fifth the amount you would normally use.

Apply to damp skin, or after applying our Pure Hydrosol Toner. The water on your skin takes the place of the water that is normally in the jar and helps spread the cream or serum thinly and evenly over your skin

Q: Are Mokosh products vegan and cruelty free?

All products except for the Coconut & Blackcurrant Lip Balm and the Pure Body Balm are vegan. These 2 products contain certified organic beeswax.

Mokosh has been fully audited by Cruelty Free International and is Leaping Bunny approved.
