Module 3: Caring for Dry Skin

Text Version

Causes & Needs

Dry skin is usually caused by a poor skin barrier function, and can easily progress to inflamed, irritable skin.
Dry skin may be a natural tendency, due to overuse of soap or harsh cleansers, hormonal imbalances, or dietary deficiencies. It may also be a result of accelerated ageing from exposure to UV light or pollutants.

Avoid

  • Detergent cleansers
  • Harsh scrubs
  • Common irritants like fragrances, emulsifiers & preservatives

Embrace

  • Gentle cleansing
  • Calming toners
  • Nourishing serums
  • Rich, protective creams
  • Fragrance-free options

Morning Routine

We suggest the following:

1. Cleanse

Makeup Remover & Cleansing Oil: Our Cleansing Oil will deep cleanse the skin and pores whilst replenishing the skin's barrier. It leaves skin soft and hydrated, and fully prepared for our nutritious moisturisers to follow.

2. Double cleanse/mask

Facial Cleanser, Exfoliator & Mask: Cleanses skin without detergents and gently exfoliates cell debris. Most people with dry skin require use only once or twice a week.

3. Tone

Pure Hydrosol Toner: With anti-inflammatory properties and a pH of around 5, our gentle toner helps restore the skin’s acid mantle. It also makes the ideal aqueous base on which to apply our water-free moisturisers.

4. Nourish

Raspberry & Pomegranate Beauty Serum: Readily absorbed and deeply nourishing, a highly bioactive concentrate offering potent nutrition at a cellular level.

5. Protect

Light/Rich Face Cream: Apply Rich (very dry skin) or Light (less dry skin) Face Cream over Serum. If makeup is worn during the day, some skip the cream in the morning.

Pure Face & Body Cream: When skin is sensitive, this is the best choice (no added essential oils)

Evening Routine

1. Cleanse

Makeup Remover & Cleansing Oil: Remove makeup if worn, and follow with oil cleansing to gently remove the day's build up of dirt, pollutants and impurities from skin and pores.

2. Tone

Pure Hydrosol TonerWith anti-inflammatory properties and a pH of around 5, our gentle toner helps restore the skin’s acid mantle. It also makes the ideal aqueous base on which to apply our water-free moisturisers.

3. Nourish

Bakuchiol Revival Serum: Bakuchiol has anti-ageing benefits similar to retinol - without the dryness and irritation. Apply this serum in the evening to help restore collagen while you sleep.

4. Protect

Light/Rich Face Cream: Follow with a deeply nourishing Face Cream to help repair and restore the skin while you sleep. 'Rich' for mature and very dry skin, 'Light' for skin that is less dry.

Pure Face & Body Cream: When skin is sensitive, this is the best choice (no added essential oils)

Common Queries

Q: Why has my skin become drier with age?

This is very normal!

As we age our skin naturally becomes thinner and drier.

This is mostly because of a gradual loss of collagen, elastin and matrix from the dermis, as well as reduced production of sebum.

Q: I've tried all the creams and lotions out there but my skin is still dry - what makes Mokosh different?

Regular creams and lotions contain 50-80% water - this means as little as 20% moisturising content.

Mokosh creams are completely water-free, making them up to 5x more potent than regular creams.

Mokosh products are specially formulated to restore and protect the skin's barrier.
